Custom URL Paths & Redirect Management for Ecwid

Create custom URL paths, detect broken links, and automatically redirect deleted products — on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Joomla, and any embedded Ecwid store. Preserve your SEO without touching your server.

Two Problems Ecwid Merchants Face

Broken URLs When Products Are Deleted

Every deleted product or removed category creates a 404 error. Visitors hit dead ends, backlinks lose their value, and Google drops those pages from search results.

Rankings Drop Silently

Google drops broken pages from search results. Backlinks lose their value. The organic traffic you've built erodes over time — and you may not notice until it's gone.

No Custom URLs on Embedded Stores

Ecwid's custom slug feature only works on Instant Site. If your store is embedded on WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace, you can't create clean, memorable product URLs.

What SEO Redirect Manager Does

Custom URL Paths

Create custom, SEO-friendly URL paths for any product or category — on any platform. Map a clean path like /best-seller to any product URL. Works on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Joomla, and any embedded store.

404 Detection

Automatically detect broken URLs on your storefront. Review all 404 errors in a dedicated dashboard sorted by hit count, and fix the most impactful ones first with one click.

Auto-Redirect for Deleted Products

When you delete a product or category, the app detects it via webhooks and automatically creates a redirect — so visitors and search engines don't hit a dead end.

Bulk CSV Import

Import hundreds of redirects at once from a CSV file. The app validates each row, detects loops and duplicates, and reports results with per-row error details.

Redirect Analytics

Track which redirects are firing, how often, and from where. The dashboard shows stats for total redirects, 404s detected, and total redirect hits.

Wildcard Redirects

Redirect entire URL patterns with a single rule using wildcard suffixes. Exact matches always take priority over wildcard rules.

How It Works

1

Install

Add the app to your Ecwid store from the App Market. No coding required. The app records all current product and category URLs so it can detect future deletions.

2

Add Redirects

Create custom URL paths manually, import a CSV, or let the app auto-create redirects when products are deleted. All rules are validated for loops, self-redirects, and conflicts.

3

SEO Protected

A lightweight script (under 5KB) on your storefront reads redirect rules and sends visitors to the right page instantly. Your search rankings stay intact.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Ecwid's custom slugs?

Ecwid's built-in custom slug feature only works on Instant Site — it's not available when your store is embedded on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or other platforms. This app lets you create custom URL paths that redirect to any product or category, on any platform. It's functionally the same as having custom slugs, but it works everywhere Ecwid can be embedded.

Does this work with Ecwid Instant Site?

Partially. The redirect management dashboard, bulk import, and webhook-based deletion detection work on all platforms including Instant Site. However, client-side redirect execution and 404 detection are unreliable on Instant Site because Ecwid controls the server and may resolve or reject URLs before the app's JavaScript loads. The admin UI automatically detects your store type and hides features that don't work on Instant Site. This app is designed primarily for embedded stores (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Joomla, custom sites).

Are these real HTTP 301 redirects?

The app performs client-side redirects using JavaScript (Ecwid.openPage() or window.location.replace()). These are not true HTTP 301 status codes — the browser loads the page, the script runs, and then navigates to the new URL. Google does follow JavaScript redirects and transfers link equity, though true server-side 301s are considered stronger signals. For most Ecwid merchants on embedded stores, client-side redirects are the only practical option since you typically don't have direct access to your hosting server's redirect configuration.

Can I import redirects from another tool?

Yes. You can import redirects via CSV. The format is simple: source URL, destination URL.

Is my data safe?

All data is stored securely in your Ecwid Application Storage and an encrypted database. Data is never shared with third parties.
